A Thrift Shop Miracle: My Communion Kit

I have always had, in the back of my mind, a desire to find a case which I could make into a communion kit. I already had all of the contents, but I had nowhere to keep everything. In my mind it needed to be large enough to hold a bottle of consecrated wine, a small bread box of consecrated hosts, a paten, a small chalice, and an oil stock for anointing the sick, along with a linen corporal and purificator, a small wooden cross, a hospital stole and the Sunday readings.
A few Fridays ago, when I arrived at the Thrift Store to work, I saw a leather case with a handle hanging on one of the racks. It was just what I was looking for! It was the right size and depth for what I needed. This was no ordinary case; it looked like it was made just for the purpose of carrying the Sacrament to the sick, shut-in, and those in need.
I have already used the kit once. I find it brings a sense of reverence and worship, and most of all a special connection to their parish family of Good Shepherd.
